HUTTERLY RACKED OFF - BEWARE

Posted by: HIGHLANDER9148 on 02 May 2004

Having purchased (for the first time)NAIM equipment, I needed to buy a suitable stand as my previous (dedicated) stand was sold with its hifi.

Following the forum threads, (depth of pocket, decor) and on the further recommendation of the dealer I ordered a Hutter rack in beech, with an expected delivery date of 2 weeks given.

Several days after placing the order I was contacted by the dealer to be told that the original price had increased by 10% because of the euro exchange rate .. ah well in for a penny...

Some eight weeks later, my NAIM equipmment remains boxed, still awaiting delivery of the HUTTER.

This week I have been told that HUTTER received a sub-standard bunch of veneers, which has held things up,anticipated delivery is another two weeks?

Still patience is a virtue and a new collection of CDs is growing in anticipation.

However if it is your intention to purchase HUTTER you may wish to make some enquiries beforehand.

Scrub the order, get Isoblue from another dealer.

You are being dicked about.

I don't know what Naim kit you have but here is an idea which is a bit sacriligious but worth considering.

Unpack your NAIM gear, put it on the floor and power it up. Even if you don't lsiten to it seriously you can start the dreaded "burn in" process we all talk about here.

You might even view what you hear as the "before" to the Hutter "after"

Did you consider Isoblue Highlander? Maybe Mike is right.

Or Ash racking, cheaper too.

Oh just read elsewhere that Ash have gone belly up, which is a shame.

To my mind, the cost of Hutter has been increasing at quite a rate over the last two or three years. This latest 10% increase is a bit of a bummer. I know, I recently ordered a shed-load of the stuff in Pear veneer just a few weeks after the increase came in. Despite the increases I still think it's an excellent sounding rack.

My order appears to have hit delays also but fortunately only a slight delay as far as I can tell and best guesses are that my order is predicted to arrive in another weeks time. Fingers crossed.

Regarding waiting times it is a similar story with Quadraspire Reference.

However, Audio works in Cheadle may have all the bits (acrylic shelves anyway) in stock to make one up "off the shelf" so to speak...

Steve.
