Place to saty while in Milan

I'll be attending a wedding in Italy this March and will be staying outside of Milan. I'd like to stay a couple of days in Milan beforehand.
Any suggestions? As close to the city center as possible but cheaper than 200 euro a night for two if possible.
Or a cool smaller hotel near a metro station would be great. We don't care for the chrome and glass business hotels that seem to be common there.
Any help would be appreciated.

Several years since I was in Milan - but there is a Best Western near one of the metro stations (a European BW hotel is very dfferent from a US BW hotel)
Also Star Rosa which is not far from the Cathedral was good

Check out the Milan City website (english) on Goggly, €200 a night seems a lot, you'll jhave plenty of time to make a choice, have fun.

I can't really help on the hotel front, but I can advise that if you want to see Leonardo's Last Supper in Santa Maria delle Grazie, you NEED to book in advance.
It might seem peculiar to have to book to see a painting, but it has recently been restored, it's a small-ish room, and it's better than the queues at, say, the Vatican.
Sorry I don't have a link for booking...

Thanks for the quick replies. I met with some of the other folks who will be attending last night so I have a better idea. The Milan City site is good.
Fritz, how much of a discount for being a catholic? If it is a lot, can I still convert?
We are working on the Last Supper reservations now.
I knew I'd get good suggestions here.
