Bluebells

Posted by: garyi on 30 April 2004

Well Watford is not renowned for much, and I don't suppose its renowned for bluebells, but last year we found a spot where there were thousands and this year was no exception.

Our beloved dog Roxanne was put down the other week, and I have to say its the most upsetting thing I have had to do, she was an 11 year old boxer.

Well the vets screwed up somewhere. We wanted an end so said to take her and be done, but they phoned up and said the ashes were back at the vets the other day. This was a little disconcerting, never-the-less considering the time of year we thought the bluebells might be out, and out they were!

This is a picture off the E10, in not great light, all I have done is the auto-correction in photoshop although to be honest its a nice picture, (Well nice in terms of colours and subject matter)

I hope you guys are subject to such beauty where ever you are, if I can find it in Watford anything is possible!

Nice

Last year I transplanted a few clumps of bluebells from beside the house to a small wooded area in our back garden ... long way to go though compared to the picture.

Looking at that reminds me of where my parents live. There was a lovely bluebell wood at the end of their road which fell within the grounds of a large corporate's place. The land was sold a few years back for a new housing development. No more bluebells.

Makes you feel good to see that. I am lucky enough to live opposite a park, and instead of looking out of the bedroom window to see someone looking at me, I see trees, grass, snow, leaves, flowers, the whole seasonal thing. In the centre of the city, I am very lucky and I don't take it for granted.
Nice post gary

My condolences on loosing your boxer, I had a female decades ago when I was in High school. she was a wonderful dog even tho she had her quirks and certainly lots of personality.

The pic is wonderful.

I can second that. I had to call the vet round Boxing Day morning 2001 to put down our 19 year old ginger/white female cat. Needless to say, Christmas will never be the same again. In some ways, its worse than a relative dying, `cos I had to make the positive decision to end a life(rather than allow continuing suffering)......

My condolences
