Environmentally friendly estate cars

My wife's current car (a petrol Fiat Ulysses) is due for replacement and, due to the impact of Mick Parry's war on fuel prices, I'm considering getting a replacement with lower running costs.

Unfortunately the likes of the Civic IMA and Toyota Prius aren't available as estate cars so what are the options?

No.1 on my list is the Accord Tourer 2.2CTD-i Executive - £21,500, 52mpg, 140ps, 0-60mph in 10.1 seconds, 124mph.

Any other options I should consider? The last Accord Aerodeck I had I kept for 9 years and we have tended to keep cars for a long time. That rules out the likes of from Fiat, Ford, Vauxhall, Peugot, Citroen & Volkswagen/Audi (all of whom I've had cars from previously and wouldn't be inclined to do so again) so what else should we be looking at?

Regards
Steve

I think you will be hard pushed to find anything nearly as good as the Accord Tourer for the money.. The new Honda Diesel is a superb engine, and you can't argue with the specification... I carried out some tests recently (as part of my job) and the closest car to it was the Merc... The merc was quieter on the motorway but was beaten by the accord in just about every other area including fit and finish..
