England's new theme tune

We're leaving on a jet plane...
... Don't know when we'll be back again
Rumour has it Beck's is blaming a blade of grass for the miss.

They're coming home,
they're coming home...
England's coming home...
They failed again,
They failed again...
England failed again...
(etc).
Pretty pathetic of any Scot such as myself to knock England for getting as far as they did, though - love the country and the people but hate their football media pundits and the 'hype'...

Billy Bragg gives several options, I'll settle for

I'll have one for Sven:
The Who - Won't get fooled again
"and now the passing on the left
is now the passing on the right"

"C*nt of Death" by Winchester Boys Choir (Ft. Aled Jones).
An excellent choice Bruce as not only is it one of Billy's finest, I believe Rooney is currently working on a new definitive biography of Mao.

I think the chorus of the Scots version goes
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
Well thats what I hear, anyway.
Regards
Mike
Spending money I don't have on things I don't need.
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat
bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat bleat

Mike I think you may want to get your ears checked. What we're actually singing is
Hee hee hee hee hee hee
Hee hee hee hee hee hee
etc
Amazingly despite England's departure tonight's TV coverage still devoted an inordinate amount of time to England's role in this tournament, including a re-creation of the infamous penalty spot. Portugal presumably used the alternative spot they brought themselves and surreptitiously buried and then removed while nobody was watching. There's a surprise then. And given that last night it took an entire 1 minute and 30 seconds before the commentators started talking about the 1966 World Cup I look forward to seeing a replay of that final next week.
