It Bites/Francis Dunnery

Posted by: jayd on 04 October 2004

Taking a cue from MichaelC's mention of them on the "Power Pop" thread, I thought I'd see if there were any other fans out there.

I'm a long-time devotee to "The Big Lad In The Windmill", and Francis' solo album "Fearless" is fantastic, to my ears, for the writing, the musicianship, and for the sound quality. It RAWKS.

Anybody else?

Me too. I'm not a rabbid fan but respect is due IMO. Much better live than the rather tame sounding stuff that came out of the stuido.

It Bites - Once Around the World is my favourite CD of theirs by far Smile

I saw them live a couple of times and they were great. A lot more powerful than you might imagine based on their studio work.

Music should be 'original' and played 'live'. No more overpaid Karaoke singers.

I remember them. In fact I bought "The Big Lad in the Windmill" and was really dissapointed; so much so that I took it back to Our Price and swapped it for David Lee Roth's "Eat 'Em and Smile"!??! What was I thinking of?

He did an excellent job a couple of years ago on Ian Browns 3rd solo album "Music of the Spheres"
I too have "Fearless" and it's not bad.

Me too.

I like ...Windmill a lot and still listen occasionally, although I can't help but feel it belongs to my youth now and sounds a little dated. It brings back some good memories for me though, as I boought it (along with Go West Bangs and Crashes, IIRC) whilst on the first holiday with my now wife Smile

I never got on with Once around the World, not sure why, must dig it out tomorrow for a listen.

What is Dunnery up to now, I lost touch after Once around the World?
