A little help with speakers.

Posted by: Stephen Dupuis on 21 January 2001

In a little bit of a jam here.
I recently returned to full time studies and now work at a small hifi shop, but not a Naim dealer.
I am looking for some new speakers but we (the shop) does not have access to Naim. I am considereing Kef Ref 1 and Monitor Audio Studio 6, any comments from users with similar setups.

3.5/FlatCap/32.5/HiCap/160

Thanks
Steve

I've heard various models from KEF and Monitor Audio, and I didn't much like any of them. All the KEFs were rather compressed, the the Monitor Audio were "tzingy" in the high-frequency department. Of course, I've not heard them all, so there may be some that are acceptable.

What other manufacturers does your shop carry? Catch you later!

I have had MA Studio 2's, which sounded superb. If you can live with the lack of the lowest frequencies, go for the MA's. I still intend to buy MA Studio 20's one day...
Right now I have Intro's, which are also quite good. But they are a bit brighter, which can be too much sometimes.

Royd do a range of speakers, at prices to suit every pocket, which work well with naim.

Neat speakers have also been getting support on the forum recently.

cheers
