Hi,
Had the pleasure of meeting him in the mid 80's when I was working at Forest home games - very to the point but charming nontheless...
A proper footy manager who found brilliant players from nowhere etc...

Truly very sad - seemed like a decent bloke.

A real shame as well as after years of being a mad drunk and looking like he was about to drop dead he was looking really well in the last few years and was back on his old form.
Football's just not the same anymore without th elikes of Cloughie -- Can you imagine Arsene Wenger taking out a pitch invading fan with a timely right hook?

I think that he made good players seem brilliant.

Well, if he did, I bet the cameras wouldn't catch it.

When the team travelled to Europe iirc Cloghie would always insist on leaving the team coach at Folkstone and walking the next few miles on his own. He would then rejoin the rest of the team at the frerry port so as to continue the journey on the team on the coach with the rest of the lads.

Just heard the news, a very sad loss, top bloke and a great manager in my opinion.

I bumped into him once. I was walking into the off-licence, he was walking out.
Never been into football myself but I've got a lot of respect for him for what he achieved.

In 1981 Cloughie came to the school I was then teaching at to give out the annual prizes. He arrived about 10 minutes late as he was in the process of signing Willie Young.Itching to get back to the negotiations,Cloughie was asked by our Head to hand out O level certificates,CSE likewise and to congratulate individual top of each class and the runners up.There was of line of 400 kids.Brian spent the next 2 hours shaking the hands of each kid and having a chat with every single one of them;he didn't repeat himself at all.To round things off he gave us a 15 minute speech and ended by saying that he hoped that his own kids turned out to be as pleasant as our lot.Top Bloke
