So come on chaps whats share the following:
1. Top speed
2. Where
3. Vehicle
4. Did you get caught

Not in this country as far as I'm aware.
Before the advent of the latest technology it probably wasn't to book someone for speeding during an overtake (unless they took more 1/4 of a mile to do it).

RE the no braking rule ? I don't want to be seen as a mouthpiece for the IAM and I can't honestly remember that being said, but it's 10years since my last test.
Not my experience either. Since the 'bible' w.r.t. the IAM is Roadcraft and that explicitly states that engine braking should not be used as a primary means of slowing, it does seem odd.

As with all things common sense prevails, my experience is that exceeding the speed limits for a short period, to enable a swift and safer overtake (by getting oneself out of the danger zone quickly) is not something any police vehicle I've overtaken has ever been concerned about, on motorways or A/B roads.
One often gets followed for a while, but most of these guys aren't malicious, in my experience, and only stop if they see genuinely dangerous behaviour.
Andy.

What exactly do you mean by that? Is that a direct threat to my life - a clear statement of an intended road rage murder attempt. You pathetic little peice of shit - a hard man on the forum I see. Get back in your Nissan Micra and fuck off back to mama you wanker. Anyway and everyone who read your post can see you for what you are - an arsehole of the highest order.
So get it right up you - tosser.
BTW racing on the public highway will get you jailtime if caught, as will attempted murder using your Micra as a weapon. Perhaps your sweeping up job at MacDonalds won't be a great loss to you if you do end up doing time (and it sounds like you probably will if these incidents took place anywhere except inside your tiny little mind) but I'd rather not risk my livelyhood in the same way. Cars are far to slow to race against anyway.

Sweet. So is that another direct threat of violence then? It's good to be clear about these things, and I wouldn't want to misunderstand.
Do you need to ask your mummy's permission first?

Now I know you like to imagine me in leather Matthew dear (I seem to recall a certain mocked up picture), but I suppose it's better than imagining me in lycra...

I apologise for my vulgar language...
You should know the Naim forum rules by now - death threats etc are ok, but modifing equipment - now that's a serious crime...

Steady on, using uprated fuses could burn the house down, therefore causing death, so such a suggestion could cause death, or a threat to life - arghhh a death threat

If it didn't break at least some of those rules then would anyone read it?

Yes that too; suggested "removal of fuses from ABS systems when snowing". A clear attempt to risk lives.

Never mind speeding, what about driving drunk? How much can you consume and still drive home?
Any fool knows that you drive more carefully with a few pints inside you, to avoid detection, so are actually safer than when sober. The fact that I have never had an accident or been caught drunk-driving proves this to be true.
So come on you hard men, how much can you get down your necks and still drive?

Anyone see the Top Gear magazine article on drink driving penalties? I thought the Swedish one was fair (one year's hard labour) but there was somewhere in the South America which allowed the death penalty for it and somewhere in Europe (Bulgaria?) which had the death penalty for the 3rd offence.

So it's fear of conviction that stops you?

My father has a very old (1950's) driving manual which actually has a section on how to drive when you are drunk!
I can't say that I have tried it, though.
One thing that we have all done is driving when we are tired, which is bloody dangerous, too.

Very dangerous. I've done a few 1000+ mile in 24 hour trips and strategies to minimise tiredness are important.
