Hotmail trouble
Posted by: Bas V on 17 September 2004
I haven't been able to log into my Hotmail account all day. I get the message 'the page you are looking for is currently unavailable'. But I can log into my girlfriend's Hotmail account. All on the same computer. Does anybody have similar problems?! It's quite annoying as I'm expecting mail!

Tried ir Jeff, didn't make a difference...
I'm kinda worried. This week I got an interesting email with a good offer for speakers as a reaction on an advertisement I have placed. Replying to the mail didn't work and I placed another add asking the guy to react again as his email wasn't working. From then on stupid things started. I got notifications of me bidding on sites (fortunately one must confirm placing the bid, which of course I didn't). There also was this guy sending me emails that I was gay if I placed such an advertisement and he was just sending dirty one line emails (which I will spare you the content). I was thinking then 'don't respond as this #@$% doesn't know my email right now and maybe that's what he's after'. So I didn't react. I just cannot believe what some people enjoy doing... Anyway, later that day the man I needed saw my ad and gave me his number. I removed the ads a.s.a.p. but now my Hotmail isn't working anymore. I just hope it is accidentely.
Any suggestions?

Since I am on hotmail I have sent you a meesage to see if it gets through or if I get an undeliverable warning back.
Did you accept the upgrade to 20MB that Hotmail offered everybody a few months ago? If you did 'nt that may be a problem. You may have to contact their customer service. Anyway post here if you do get my e-mail but can't reply.
one option maybe to go onto hotmail and close your account then open another one with the same e-mail name. Trouble is I'm not sure if the system will let you use the old e-mail name, even though the original account is closed. I am also not sure if you can still get a free hotmail account

Hi Geoff,
I have sent myself emails also by another email address I have, but I get no notification. But I still cannot login. I am not aware of the upgrade you mention. And if that would be the case, isn't it strange that there's not a notification in any way about this? I still get the message 'currently unavailable'...

I'm lost I do not know what to suggest. When Monday comes around I guess you can work with their customer service if you can get thru'to them.
The upgrade was virtually forced on me via internet and paperwork. basically I reckon next year they plan to charge for Hotmail accounts period, and they are getting ready for it with the upgrade. Maybe you somehow stopped "existing" in their records.
Good luck

Thanks Jeff, but it didn't help either. I just hope it's a maintenance thingy...

Yesterday I got a mail from Hotmail that stated:
'Recently, we encountered a technical problem that affected a small number of users on the specific machine that contains your account information. This issue has already been resolved and you should now be able to access your account without any difficulty.'
All's well that ends well.
Thanks for the support!
