Best Pizza Restaurants in London

Posted by: Tim Danaher on 12 July 2004

Can't find the original thread -- search doesn't work -- so apologies for any duplications, but...

There's a big canteen-style affair at the top of Charing Cross Road (Oxford Street end) called (I think) Da Portare (ie, "take-away"). Except it's not just a take-away. They do a selection of ready-baked Pizza slices that are OK, but the fresh-baked Sicilian 12-inchers are great -- and around £4.50 a throw! Now, they don't do wine by the glass, but a bottle of Italian red is £6.90!! And served very slightly chilled -- surprisingly pleasant.

Those prices in central London -- can't go wrong, can you?

Cheers,

Tim

Went to Da Mario in Endell Street on Saturday night. Food is excellent (try the stuffed baby squid for a starter) and the wine is reasonable too.
Recommended.

Roy --

Odd. When I click on the link you posted I get the same results as my search for "Pizza": a window opens containing the forum home page. Hmmm..

Cheers,

Tim
