NAIT 5 and AV processor

This problem is usually down to earthing. Almost all Japanese AV amps don't earth properly - even the ones that use an IEC. Try to find one that has a proper earth (e.g. the Arcam AVR200 and I think the Rotel one does) and then ensure that the Nait5 and Processor are on the same properly earthed multiway block (the processor should be last on the block in my view). This should get around the problem, but try (at home) before you buy, obviously!
This is all assuming you're in the UK of course. Any other climes are subject to local earthing practices.

Frank.

I am in the UK and I do suspect it is an earthing problem. The Yamaha I use at the moment doesn't have a mains earth, but I went through all sorts of earthing options when I first got the NAIT 5.
I tried isolating the link between Naim and AV
via a transformer and earthing various points on this system, all to no avail.
The hum I get is at much lower level than the one you get when you have no signal ground. i.e. disconnect the turntable ground.
Try and buy has to be the route forward I guess. I need to pay a visit to my local friendly Naim dealer.

I'm using a NAD T741, terrible hum to begin with but solved by running a cable from the chassis to the earth-stud on my mains block.

Paul

I used two difference marantz av amps with my old Nait 5. The first was an SR880 (Singaporean import), the second was an SR4300.
Both worked well with the Nait.

I had a NAD CD Recorder with the same problem as Paul and solved the same way again.
At the moment I use a Pioneer VSX-AX3 receiver through unity gain on the 202 without any problems.
