Best Value Record Cleaner

Posted by: SteveH on 17 November 2004

Any advice about which record cleaning machine I should purchase?
Is the Moth kit at around £250 good value or do I need to spend more to get something that really does the job well?
I'm not looking to clean more than 50 records per year I guess, depends on how many I find in second hand shops.

Thanks

There are quite a few threads about this on the forum. I use the Moth. Works perfectly - but it is loud!

google 'diy record cleaning machine' and follow the instructions. Paint pads can be used as an alternative to the (relatively) expensive VPI brush.

Have fun,

Chris.

Forget it, 50 records are not enough to warrant buying a RCM, IMHO. You'd do better to find a local second hand record shop or hi-fi dealer who offers a record cleaning service. The going rate is around £1 per disc (including static free inner sleeve).

Fine if you have A) a local record dealer. and B) they have a record cleaner. Short of going to London Berwick Street I don't know of a closer place that cleans your records.
