I've never noticed anything significant after 2 weeks (others have apparently!)

hello this is what I have run across some say 2 weeks some 2-3 months,I guess I am asking for those who heard a difference say after 2 months was it big or small and did everything come together?

Can anyone quantify how they have been able to store an audio sensation in their brain for two weeks, to be able to say conclusively that they heard a different sound after two weeks, discounting all possibilities such as volume, moods, cleanliness of ears etc?

Or would it be fair to say people 'think' they hear a difference after two weeks etc.

As Garyi says; this is of course difficult to quantify with changes of mains quality, temperature, humidity etc: not to mention one's mental state.

That notwithstanding; I reckon my 252/SC took 3 months to fully blossom and my friend's 552 longer than that.

hello this is what I am saying, did you notice a big or small difference after 3 months? and do you really feel it sounds better now than when you 1st got the gear?

I beleive it is possible to retain some useful impression of system performance. I would guess that there has to be some valid duration for an absolute audio memory.
In defence of "burn-in" I would use a different logic. Previously my sistem was very consistent, performance varied little with time of day, etc. Since making several changes last December the sistem has been very variable, cycling up and down though with an ongoing improvement. After a rather uninspiring week, today, on a number of records, I have heard things I hadn't previously heard. The only downside is that I should have been working, not playing records!
