Old NAP180 vs new NAP180

Hi there,

I am just wondering: I compared an *old* NAP180 (from 1992) with a quite new one (from 1998) and found the differences significant. For some reason the newer 180 sounded more relaxed and produced a much warmer and more open sound compared to the old 180. I had the impression that the older NAP180 somehow sounded nervous.
Can this be due to another type of transformator used by Naim for the newer amplifiers? Has anybody made the same experience? Maybe it is because the old NAP180 needs to be recapped.
