I listen to nearly all types of music, apart from classical. I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me some recommendations for good sounding classical CD's that I can buy and enjoy on my system.
Many thanks guys.

Dear Bhazen
I really tend to agree with you in that LvB is the only romantic composer of any stature, and as I have written before, I consider his pianosonatas to be the most important music written between 1750 and to day. Especially I avoid bel canto, lieder and symphonic poems, but there are lots of romantic and overripe late-romantic music (Strauss, Elgar, and so on) to stay away from without suffering any serious loss.
20-century is another matter. Who can resist Bartoks pianoconcertos or the sonata for two pianos and percussion (not romantic at all) or Hindemiths Ludus tonalis (neobaroque)or Martins Symphony Concertante (neobaroque too)or Ptr Ebens organworks (Hommage a Buxtehude or Laudes)to mention a few examples?
But what should I carry along to the desert island:
Bach, Bach and more Bach, and still more Bach.
