Ramsey's a pretty big, fit bloke - okay, so Eubank wouldn't have any problems but Clarkson? - he'd be battered into next week!

Thing that struck me is that even though Ramsey can be a right bully, he also encourages people when he thinks they need it and gives credit where it is due.

Yup, Ramsay is a genius, not just as a cook but as a manager. Who else do you know who can inspire that level of committment from their staff under that sort of pressure? Then there's keeping all those dishes cooking so that the orders get out at the same time, the overseeing the restaurant, the kitchen etc, etc. He does not own three top restraunts and have seven Michelin Stars for nothing.

I've seen managers who try similar techniques in the office who are bullies and useless but Gordon succeeds because he is passionate about the food he is serving (i.e. the job), doing the best he can deliver and about getting the best out of each person. Yes he swears a lot, yes he can be hard but he also knows when to pull back, reward and help. There appears to be very little front with him, just a genuine passion to serve the best food possible.

I couldn't work in that pressure but I bet many are glad they have including the remaining celebraties (but not Tommy Vance

What absolute tripe (no pun intended) this programme is.

That the public should be interested in a foul mouthed chef is a sad indictment of today's society.

Another example of 'Bigger Faster Louder' to keep the attention span of the plebs.

It's an insult to the intelligence of the viewing public.

I think that misses the point. Ramsay may swear more than is usual but he is the best chef in the country, not just as a cook but as a restraunteur and judging by the way the celebs are responding, as a manager and teacher. He has a real passion for what he's doing and for getting the best out those under him. Certainly I find him inspirational.

Ok the tv format is pretty poor and concentrates overly on the antagonism but it's still facinating to watch. Or maybe I'm an uneducated pleb.

I caught the beginning of this and found it spellbindingly fascinating for about 15 seconds. Thereafter I more or less agreed with J.N.
