Bristol or Bust
Posted by: Jonathan Gorse on 12 January 2001
We are and decided to stop the Saturday night at the Marriott in Bristol. This is not the one where the show is being held which was full so we ended up at the other one near the Cathedral - it occurs to me that it might be more fun if a few of us were booked into the same place.
Paul - are you planning to bring 500/DBL's again? - I need another DBL fix!
regards,
Jonathan
I am flying back from tenereiffe on the Saturday and intend on visiting the show on Sunday with Mrs Mick. She wants to have a good look at the Hutter stands that Naim use, so as an aside, may I ask Mark Tucker to ensure that they are well polished etc.
My son and his wife also want to come along to view the 5 series so may I use this letter to reserve 4 places at the Sunday forum.
Jomathan / anyone esle......I live about 7 minutes off Junction 15 of the M4, so if you want to pop in saturday evening in order to view my system and slag it off etc, just mail me. Junction 15 is about 45 minutes from Bristol center.
Regards
Mick
and who will be there?:

cu there
Steve
Very kind of you to invite me over but unfortunately I won't be able to make it as there are a couple of old university mates I had planned to meet and have a meal with.
Hopefully Naim will do another forum only event and we can all go for a beer afterwards but in case they don't why don't we all just say we'll be down in the bar after the show? Looks like we may miss you this year Mick because we plan to go on Sat - I will try and go for a half day on the Sunday but will have to see what Eilish feels like!
Fox - I go to as many interesting rooms as I can - Michell for turntables, Chord to see if I can 'get it' plus Pro-ac, Kef, some of the more esoteric valve set-ups and Mana just to see if they can make a decent sound at a show (up to now they haven't IMHO) to justify me buying a reference table for the Gyro!
Of course every naim room is de rigeur!!

Jonathan
Arie
Sorry - you needed to watch Gladiators (the TV show) to get it

" Naim will again be holding closed demonstrations in the Presidential Suite- This year showing the full DBL system with 3 NAP500 power amplifiers."
Question - If it is closed how do I get in?
Do I need to make a reservation?
Forgive me if I am sounding dumb or thick I have not been to a Hifi show for donkeys.
Regards P.
BTW - Ari before you ask. When I say donkeys I mean as in Donkeys Years - an old English expression meaning a long period of time - the origin of which I know not.
I'm going on Saturday. I think the wife is coming too (i'm really, really sorry for any musical consequences of this) and will need beer afterwards. Anybody fancy the latter?
Is that you or your wife who will need beer afterwards??
I intend to have beer DURING and AFTER.
Brian
I have to fend off the 'you want to buy what?' questions to the point of the 'oh, just get it' submission.
She's more easily persuaded with a little (not too much) alcohol in her. I'm more persuasive with a beer but an amount of beer that is proportionate to her's. I don't want to appear drunk while she's sober, that would annoy her and ruin my chances of victory. And I will need a beer to celebrate the victory.
Actually, I've got her to the 'just buy them stage' but I feel a jitter coming on when she see's the kit (and she really must see this stuff before it shows up or I risk a long spell in the dog-house).
