URGENT Photography advice Required!!

Hi chaps,

I'm about to leave on holiday later this morning! and wife has a Fuji Finepix 6900 digital camera. Normally she takes pictures and we use the Finepix viewer software to download them to our laptop.

I'm looking at all this baggage and am wondering if there's any way around taking the laptop. Camera connects to a computer via USB cable but I don't know if I can upload pictures to Ophoto via that cable to the web on any USB equipped computer at a net cafe or whether I need to have the Finepix software installed. I'm guessing this might be a nightmare if the hotel doesn't have broadband.

Alternatively are there any pocket sized storage devices I could buy cheaply at Dixons LHR which could store enough pics for a 2 week holiday??

Surely there's an alternative to lugging a laptop around everywhere??? (I'm one of those old fashioned buggers still shooting on film with my Pentax)!!

Many many thanks for any tips - we fly around lunchtime Sat.

John. On our honeymoon we placed our faith in the photo shops and they didn't let us down.

Every single one had facilties for taking in your media card and having it put onto CD for around a fiver.

Worth considering, instead of risking a whole laptop

Buy more media cards ?

Something like this might solve your problems (assuming of course the camera uses a CFcard or similar)- http://www.flash-card-store.co.uk/acatalog/Photobox.html

It appears from a quick search that the Fuji Finepix 6900 supports smartmedia cards upto 128MB. Maybe grabbing a bunch of them is the short term solution.

Putting your pics on to CD also minimises lost pictures with a duff card or lost camera/media card.

Many thanks chaps for the suggestions - we're going to Dominican Republic and I have 3 cards totalling around 200Mb so maybe burning to CD in one of the shops (if they are capable out there) seems the best option. The Finepix uses a Smartmedia card which as Mekon says tops out at 128Mb and this limits us to around 120 pics when using full quality.

128Mb seems to go nowhere (especially on a topless beach!! ;-)

many thanks,

Jonathan
