For the exclusive use of Jon.

Steve

planning permission might not be required, it depends whether this is a temporary or permanent building? are we talking bricks and mortar here or more conservatory???

LOL Steve. It's the tried and trusted planning permission argument. If the bloke across the road puts a 10ft wall up, and it stays up, then so can you. Yeah, it's prudent to check first but nobody does.

Jon - I do hope this post is of a good enough standard for *your* thread. If is isn't I will leave if told to.

Cheers

Harry, you have just raised a very good point, which I feel I need to address in this, 'my' thread.

And it's this.

Ready, lads?

OK I'll begin...
Posted on: 03 December 2004 by HTK

Alright alright!

Lately there has been, one might say, some rather 'careless' talk, in the Cell at least and possibly elsewhere, of this being 'my thread', or 'your thread', and rather more disturbingly....

'It is *my* thread therefore you cannot say this, go and start *your* own thread', etc.

It seems to be me that this use of the possessive tense when referring to threads on this Forum is eerily reminiscent of a certain, now banned, member of this Forum, who shall remain nameless, but who by all accounts found it remarkably easy to get everybody's back up.

OK it was S^&(%**&n Winker

Anyway the point is one of the ways he did this was to claim a thread was his, just because he started it, and then used this as a lever to try to prevent others from freely expressing an opinion or point of view with which said member might happen to disagree, or generally have a problem with.

I therefore ban all further such use.....on MY thread!!!

So there Big Grin Big Grin

This four legged chap of whom you speak. Is that why he was banned or did he just keep pusing it in all directions? Probably not a fair question to a non-Mod. But opinion welcome.

Ever had a discussion in R/L that stayed on track? Even a business meeting? I thought that people who threw others out of meetings for wandering slightly off Item 1 on the agenda were cartoon characters. I had no idea they were walking among us. How do we recognise them - do they limp or drool, or have some distinguishing characteristic, like a short middle finger?

We need to know.

Cheers

No he was banned for something much worse than that and in any case he was 'before my time' on this Forum. I have seen threads to which he has contributed though and frankly, I think what's needed here is a strong dose of 'let's look forward' rather than back.

Probably best to leave it at that.

Cheers,
