Nah torch it for the insurance

Is the best way not to hammer a large screwdriver through it and then turn it..... ?
That's how they "hot-wire" them up here !
Seriously though - the red is presumably the supply from battery and thick black the return. The other two will probably be the ACC facility and the supply to the starter motor.
Can't the garage send someone out ?

There's no reason for the ignition switch to have a large earth wire.
Usually there are four positions on the switch, off, a bit on, ignition on, start. To make it go you will have to permanently turn the ignition on, and then momentarily connect the start wire. Use a voltmeter to find the permanent 12v feed, then touch that to the others and see what happens. Take care not to short the 12v to earth too often.

This is the sort of situation where I'd either hurt myself or my wallet. Or drive away smiling. I'd try all combinations til it worked.

Any clever gits out there who may be able to help me on a technical question ? (Yes, it's really fritz being serious ). Recently thanks to the help of Chief Engineer Sean I now use XP prof as my thingy, but have an old plustek opticpro 9636p scanner which apparently is now incompatible ? in comparison to my old idiot proof winders 98 junior.
Is there anyway I can bridge the gap so to speak (yes I know gag himself) or do I have to get a new scanner ?
