true stereo sampler

Hi

This very special sampler is a celebration of the TRUE STEREO process for recording we have used for the majority of our releases over the last ten years.

What we call "True Stereo" is, in our opinion, one of the most faithful techniques in existence to capture music in a recorded format. The final sound results from just one single pair of microphones having been used, set up in a space with good natural acoustics.

The end result offers the listener a live, acoustically realistic perspective of the music without processing or electronic manipulation of any kind. Due to the fact that the sound has been recorded direct to stereo, there is no opportunity for mixing or manipulating the sound post -recording.

The positioning of the microphones is critical for this kind of recording, this is the only opportunity that our engineer, Ken Christianson, has to adjust the levels. More bass is achieved by positioning the bassist closer to the microphones, and vice versa.

Ken's techniques - developed over a considerable number of years - are illustrated in the booklet which accompanies the True Stereo Sampler. There are diagrams which shows placement of instruments and microphones, and details on the specific sound characteristics of the room which was used for recording.

The Naim Label concept is, and always has been, to produce recordings which are of outstanding performances. As a record label, we do not try to musically influence the artists that we record, believing that far better results can be achieved through allowing them total freedom to follow their own artistic instincts.

This wonderful new disc features some of the fantastic musicians that we have recorded over the past few years, including Laurence Hobgood, Stew Cutler, Fred Simon, Charlie Haden with John Taylor and many more.

A sample track is available for you to listen to via our website here:

This is great CD - I first heard it at Pro Musica in June when Ken Christian played me a few tracks from it.

When I got home I bought a copy - the second track "Going Back to Joe's" is amazing, the vocalist is in the room with you - in fact standing right in front of you.

The rest of the CD has other favourites - including Poetspeak from Dreamhouse

Do not delay - get one today <g>
