Looking for help with Windows Media Player

Posted by: TomK on 29 October 2004

Something has caused this to behave differently from before. Until tonight it ran normally, full screen etc. However now it seems restricted to a screen about an inch square, stuck on to a toolbar on the taskbar. This happened a couple of weeks ago and I had to do a system restore to fix but I'd rather get to the bottom of it if possible. I've tried reinstalling Media player and it made no difference. I've scanned for viruses and spyware and found nothing. I've got XP SP2, running Norton Antivirus, always kept up to date, Spwsweeper, CWShredder, Spybot and just about everything else you can think of, and have ZoneAlarm and Windows firewall activated.

I'm stumped. Has anybody seen this?

Isn't there an option somewhere to use MP in a small mode or something?

Martin, that's what I've been looking for but I just can't find it.

Nip down to the bottom right hand corner - hover over the little button and "restore" should pop up. Click and it should return to its original size.

Martin,
I've been through all that. Just doesn't work. In fact MP has stopped responding altogether now.

I tried every possible combination of right click, left click, double click, hover etc and nothing worked. Eventually I booted up in Safe mode, started MP, then went back to normal and it was ok. So it's fixed but I've no idea what caused it or what actually fixed it.

Thanks for the advice anyway.
