...how do I format the hard drive on my G4 iMac? Or at least, wipe all data, apps and re-install OSX.2 which is the most up to date version I have for it. Just need to get this job done so I can sell it to help finance the iBook I already bought Smile

An ill informed guess would be that if you boot up the machine from the OSX CD to install the OS it will give you an opportunity to format the drive prior to re installing the operating system.

Given you want to strip you machine you cannot do any harm.

Don't forget to hold down the 'c' key as the machine boots to force it to boot from the install CD, or insert the CD, then choose the 'Startup Disk' panel from System Preferences and choose the install CD.

Cheers,

Tim

As soon as you have accepted the terms of the install disk in the bottm left is an 'options' button, from here you can wipe and install.

If you have highly sensitive data you can 'zero' the drive, which replaces every piece of data on the harddrive. However this can literaly take hours, so only do it if really necessery.
