Connecting digital phones

Being the technological guru that I am I am having trouble connecting two phones together. Help please.

I have a BT on-air 2250. That works fine.

I have bought another BT on-air 2250 and have been trying to connect it to the first phone. I have tried following the instructions, but ...

If anyone knows please let me know. I will also try the BT help-line tommorrow.

Don't you have to "register" the phone with the base unit (to asign a number)?

I've got to suss out how this works on the new Philips Kala 300 Vox (duo pack) I snagged at a bargain price in Argos - they might work by default but I'm not sure...

If you've RTFM'd and it doesn't work - BT's helpline'll be the way forward I guess (well, you've already said that, but it's all good typing practice here!)
