I've been a latecomer to Konitz myself, even though I've been seriously listening to jazz for over a dozen years. Over the last couple of years I've acquired many Konitz albums. One of my favorites is Motion, a 3 disc trio set out on Verve (the original was a single LP) which displays Konitz's singular ability to take standards and yet play something original.
Another fav is a rare live duo outing with Gil Evans on piano called Heroes and Anti Heroes. Pure musicality distilled.
I'm less enamored with Alone Together in spite of the stellar cast (hey, I'm a great fan of Haden; and recently of Mehldau although his attitude and liner notes irritate me). The tunes meander a lot and Mehldau as usual plays too much but Haden is of course perfect as always. I don't recall Konitz playing with Haden on any other album except for a companion Blue Note one.
