It has done the rounds Simon Wink

With the 4 gigs of space available your best bet is going to be AAC, but as with the main ipod you can mix and matxh to suit your tastes, probably the best one is the apple lossless but that only reduces the files to around half their size.

I had a play with one today, I really do like the scroll wheel and I think the out put is excellent.

Use itunes and remember if its not loud enough for you select all the tracks in itunes, then get info on them and increase the gain to 140% then sync the ipod.

The mini has 1/10th the capacity of the largest iPod (4gig v. 40gig). On the plus side, 4 gig syncs quickly if you use Firewire.

So...

...you can make playlists in iTunes that suit different purposes or listening preferences, even linking to the same songs with different compression settings.

So you could have one playlist that has everything at max compression.

Other lists could have specific music...like for driving or running...that are less compressed. Or by genre. Just load my best jazz uncompressed.

You can then blank and re-copy to the mini what you need in the suitable compression.

I used Apple Lossless Compression, sounds great but "only" got 299 tracks on instead of the 1,000 that would have gone on at a more normal compression ratio.
