May I draw your attention to a post that contains (in my opinion) a somewhat tasteless enclosure - the post in entitled 'Cats are a pest at best' - it is also my understanding that the enclosure was banned in this country by the advertising standards people.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks Fisbey. I hadn't bothered following that link before. It's a cracker. Now if it's guaranteed to do this I'm having one.

Fisbey,
Your post seems to have had the opposite effect to the one you wanted. (i.e. prompted people to look at the offending thread.)

Yes it is tasteless and cruel. But so is over 50% of the content of the Padded Cell. Swings and roundabouts.

But everything in Hifi Corner is pucka, innit chaps?
Fortunately the limitations of my work PC's software prevented me from seeing the subject of Fisbey's post, but I'm afraid to say that as Seagull said it had the opposite effect to that intended, as these things often do.

What's the standard defense of the tasteless and revolting? 'Where's your sense of humour?' is, I believe the accepted Padded Cell position.

Gizmogirl,
Never, ever have recourse to the words of Michael Winner, immortal or otherwise, under any circumstances!
[Cue sense of humour bypass ]
Nice to meet you and John the other night BTW.

JonR

Yes I am fine now, thanks.
Scary thing is he doesn't live very far away from me so if I avoid the bus which terminates in his neck of the woods I reckon my chances of bumping into him again are significantly reduced.
Looking back, though, I think the biggest mistake I made was letting him scare me. Then again I s'pose it's easy to be wise after the event....
See you again at the Heathrow show, maybe?
Regards,
JonR [cue SoH return, IMHO anyway ]
