There's a good classical shop, Bath Compact Discs, and also a good jazz shop, Music Matters.
Young people's music isn't quite so well served, Replay being about the most interesting.
BTW The 3 shops I've mentioned above are all within 50 yards of each other on Broad St.
There's also a Fopp near the Abbey.

Bath Compact Discs is entirely classical but often wins the Gramophone award for best CD retailer. You can trade in classical CDs there too (for new ones). Opposite there is a funky little record shop but not sure of the name. Walcot St used to have a hippy/punk record shop somewhere but it's probably a wine bar now.

There is a place that sells 2nd hand vinyl in Walcot St, they may also sell 2nd hand CDs.
On the classical front there's also Duck Son & Pinker, which has poorer stock than Bath Compact Discs, but sometimes has interesting stuff discounted during sales. It's worth checking out just for the old skool retailing experience.

Replay is good if you're after vinyl - but they're on the dear side. Fopp is very good vfm and stocks some hard to get stuff but doesn't do vinyl (their Bristol branch does though, apparently). Great selection of DVD's, books, special offers etc on their shelves too.
Big cheers to Martin Clark for letting me know where Fopp was as it's tucked away down 'The Corridor'. Must get in touch...

That just about covers Bath, except to say - give Fopp a miss on Saturdays, it's usually rammed. Also, that 2nd hand vinyl place on Walcot St. has a fair selection, but prices are high and the goods often tatty.
Steve - never did hookup, did we? I've your email somewhere...

Seeeeaaagullllll,
Bath Ah, my old stomping ground!
Replay does a mixture of vinyl and up the rosd from them is (or was) Nashers with a dance section in the basement.
See : http://www.knowhere.co.uk/1_music.html
All the usual chains are there, Fopp, HMV etc.
Nip across to Bristol, Gloucester Road and Park St for the real Avon vinyl action!.

thanks guys,
Seems like some decent pubs and the local record shops are in the same area! Shame.
David,
I lived in Brissle for a while in the 80's just off the Gloucester Road.
