Damien Rice concert on the telly

Posted by: J.N. on 21 November 2004

This coming Friday 26th November: BBC4: 9-10pm: LSO St Luke's church; East London.

Great acoustics. There have been similar concerts by folk based artistes over the past months. June Tabor's concert was superb.

Talking of June; She's featured on one of the tracks on the new Oyster Band album 'The Big Sesssion Vol 1' duetting on Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'.

Chilling. (Mine's on order)

John.

Thanks for the info

I missed the June Tabor but caught the PJ Harvey and Gillian Welch concerts in this series. I thought the former was excellent throughout but the latter only so in parts

I remember I liked 'O' on first run through but now the more I hear him the more I can't bear his whining through what increasingly seem badly written (musically and lyrically) songs.

Anyone else?

oh jonathan... whinging? No!

Try listening again... Damien = deep sound.
I MUST disagree.. his songs are beautifully written, musially and lyrially (sorry for spelling I need a new keyboard.
I implore you to listen harder. O is simply a wonderful work.. something we are laking today's sounds.

what a coincidence - I just watched/listened to this by chance right now!

I thought it was really good - I'd never heard anything by Damien Rice before but found it refreshingly different.

Another one for my 'to buy' list.
