Last night BBC4, Abroad again in Britain

Posted by: Pete, Mad Bad and Dangerous to Know on 05 August 2004

Hi,
Did you watch it last night? the great Jonathon Meades on BBC4 exploring Salisbury cathedral on Abroad again in Britain worth the licence fee alone. And he is doing Briton Pavilion, Portsmouth Docks, Cragside House and Edinburgh Castle. We need more programs like this, some thing you have to listen to not just let the drivel wash over you. But it should be on BBC2 not on BBC4, so Wednesday 9:30pm BBC4 watch a intelligent man talk about a subject he loves, superb TV.

I watched the pgm, good but wordy - sometimes the music was more significant that the images.

The pgm contains historic pictures of the now being removed Tricorn building (voted the UK's ugliest building by the Today pgm listeners)

Meades face with sun glasses was much to prominent and Meades doing strange things wre a bit off-putting

However worth watching - thanks for the pointer to the series

Derek

Any idea when the Portsmouth Dockyard sequence was recorded? The poor guy looked like he was freezing his knackers off throughout.

The Tricorn looks rather different now!

First time I've seen one of these, just got my Nokia free box thing, and was very impressed with the content and the presenter, I'll look out for him in future.
