19" TFT monitors

I'm looking for a new TFT, currently using a few years olf Samsung 15" and it's performed admirably but is starting to look a little small (the 18" one at work doesn't help!).

I've seen a Philips 190B5CS 19ins TFT, £360inc at ebuyer -

Specs at http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/1/190b5cs_05/190b5cs_05_pss_eng.pdf

Looks to do everything I could want, and (last time I looked) Philips had a
very good reputation for TFTs.

Any thoughts?

I can't find any reviews of that model, specs look good, only thing is the response time, I know lower is better but I'm never sure how much real world difference it makes, I'm not really a gamer, do watch DVDs and suchlike and can't say I noticed any problems with the Samsung, which is probably obsolete by current standards.

TIA,
Paul

I knew a prefect once who was three months long, but the milk monitors were even wider ?

I recently purchased a 19" LCD for the wife a few months ago from PCNextday it was the AOC LM 927 and the price is cheaper than the Phillips. The response time is a respectable 25ms and a very good contrast ratio of 600:1 as well.

It's an excellent monitor superb colours and definition. It's as good as my Iiyama 19" which was nearly double the price. I can certainly recommend it.

Thanks Clive, funny how IT is my job and I've not seen a TFT at work in years that I've thought was dire, yet when it's my own money on the line I pour over every minute spec inmaginable :-)

I've just watched some DVD clips on my Samsung and unless I'm missing something I couldn't see any flickering/ghosting or anything detremental with the image.

I was tempted by the AOC (different model I think) several months back, but held back assuming prices would drop.. they don't seem to have dropped that much.

I'm sorely tempted by the Philips, price seems good and I know Philips are one of the few companies to make their own panels, plus (and no offence intended) it's a "premium brand".

I was on the verge of whipping my debit card out today, but decided not to as, being Thursday and couriers not delivering saturdays, it would give me several days to chew over it.

regards,
Paul
