Attenuated interconnects
Posted by: bigtrak on 27 April 2004
Hi
i am thinking about having some attenuted interconnects made for my CD2/72/Hicap/250. Which interconnect is best to attenuate? the one going from the CD player to the 72 or the interconnect between the 72 and Hicap?
Thanks for your help

I am trying to kill 2 birds with one stone.....(1) When the volume control is at 8 o'clock its too loud!! (2) and also my system is on the bright side (mainly due to the lack of soft furnishing etc in the room) both these things may be curable with an attenuated interconnect. Its gotta be worth a try

Ok Ok I'm going to sound as though I'm repeating myself If you have read a recent thread re mains.
1st off tho I have used a kimber attenuated interconnect, which does calm the sound down, but in the long term flattens it. You can get them from Russ Andrews.
I did my mains and it revved up the bass so as to compensate for bright recordings/cd's.
Also are your sbl's on mana?
andy c!

I would have thought attenuated interconnects were a licence to lose money and cock the sound up simultaneously.
I'm with Andy. get a mains spur.
And perhaps your friendly dealer's opinion on your siting and set up.
SBLs sound diabolical set up badly and sweet as when set up right.
Then again, so do most speakers.

I have tried attenuated interconnects. IMHO they are a case of "two wrongs do not make a right"...they "kill" the sound
8 o`clock with SBLs is not very loud!Something is wrong
Attenuated inputs insert a (noisy) resistor is series with the signal...bad news.
I would concur with others here....sort out your mains, and supports...

Apparently Rothwell Attenuators do the trick.
