Mains Cables?

Are Naim mains leads equipment specific in any way, and also are newer ones any better than 10 year old ones? The reason I ask is I have a double wall socket at the end of a dedicated spur into which I had plugged my CDX and 140. Lingo and Nakamichi tape deck were plugged into non-dedicated sockets nearby. Anyway, now I've added a Hi-Cap I went and bought one of the Maplin multi plugs mentioned elsewhere in order to add the Hi-Cap to the dedicated socket with the 140, leaving the CDX in the adjacent socket.

The thing is the lead to the 140 (10 yrs old) has a captive plug but the CDX and Hi-Cap have removeable Crabtree plugs, so the simplest solution is to swap CDX And 140 leads around so I don't have to hack off the captive plug and can always return it to original condition, I can't see a problem but the newer leads do have slightly fancier IEC plugs on them but I don't know if it's just cosmetic.
