I like it... s lot... but... why not upgrade ???

Posted by: louis_lx on 01 November 2000

My first CD system was a Audiolab A8000, Marantz CD-80 and Rega ELA, and something was wrong... the music that i knew and love in LP simply was not... there..

Now I have a CD3 - 72 - 140 - Rega XEL (transmission
line speakers, i don´t like the NAIM speakers)

And it´s that kind of sound that you can live for hours, days, ...

Maybe not hiiii fiiiii but a lot enjoyable...

But ... why not upgrade the system and the pleasure ?

Any sugestions ?

Louis

#1: If you don't use a turntable, take out the phono boards (marked 322 or 323) for a free upgrade.

#2: If you don't make tapes, take out the tape boards (don't remember the numbers).

#3: Hicap, or even flatcap.

#4: CDX.

Buy some Naim speakers and experience what the rest of your system was designed to produce!

Bloody cheek!

The weak link in your system is the CD3. If you wish to upgrade, consider something around the CDX bracket.

I could never get on with the Rega Xel. I don't know why. If you like them, keep them - they are quite unique in their presentation.

Pierre - leave the man alone. He's entitled to build whatever system he likes...! His comment would indicate he has tried the Naim speakers and didn't get on with them.

Bloody cheek indeed...live and let live I say...

Frank.
