'Kingdom Hospital'

Stephen King's opportunity to 're-live' his serious injuries, when he was hit by a vehicle whilst out walking, near his home in Maine in 1999.

The offending driver, Bryan E. Smith (43) died about a year later. Spooooooooky!

Produced or directed by Lars von Trier, who has real style. Wonderfully whacky.

Whadya reckon?

I don't like Stephen King (I don't get spooked, just bored).
I don't like von Trier after the horrendously boring Dogville.

I liked it and will be looking forward to the 2nd episode. It did sort of remind me of Garth Marenghi's 'Darkplace' a bit, but less silly obviously.

I didn't realise it was actually directed by Lars von Trier. I've seen the trailers but wasn't impressed enough to go our of my way to watch it - it seemed too 'obvious' to me - too many monsters, etc.

Unless you've seen his original work 'The Kingdom' based on ghostly events at Kingdom Hospital in Copenhagen with dialogue in the wonderful Danish (and Swedish) languages then you really have missed out.

Thanks Jon;

I'll look out for that.

Lars von Trier directed 'Breaking The Waves' which I think is a wonderful film.

Good for you. It's also worth checking out other films not necessarily directed by von Trier but are part of the Dogme'95 collection of films made by fellow Danes Thomas Vinterberg and Soren Kragh Jacobsen. In particular 'Festen' ('The Celebration') which IMO is quite brilliant and was recently staged at the Almeida in Islington - though annoyingly I've just missed it!
