Data Protection Act

Does anybody know how this applies to message boards, chat rooms etc? Another board I visit occasionally has been hacked by somebody who's started to publish other users' passwords and it's on the verge of causing real trouble but the moderators are reluctant to do anything about it.

I guess this question could be extended to cover some other stuff such as libel for example.

I'm asking here because it's a much more civilised place than the board I'm talking about.

Thanks Tom. Probably best getting in touch with the Data Protection Office directly as you say. I actually was the Data Protection Officer in my place of work at one time but I think the now widespread access to the Internet, message boards, chat rooms etc is on the verge of making the whole thing almost unmanageable.
