Oh and see my rack? A very stylish and rugged cardboard box with 3 isoplats under and between the gear. Sounds marvellous. We just (well, 3 months ago) moved and I'm trying to find time to have my "all-in-one" rack designed and built... All in one meaning both equipment and media. It'll be big.

after breaking your - uhm - nervs with all those strange Manger pics, here's my Cara speakers (based on FE's special request...). Also in the picture: My NAC282 and HiCap that are being kept "warm" as long as I have the demo 252/SC connected, so I "fall soft" when I reconnect them in a week.

I moved my NAT05 out from under my 252 - have you tried moving your 02? Plonk it on the floor and you should get a significant gain on LP and CD - Geoff P described it like washing a dirty window, after I nagged him. By the way, I've ordered the Alice Coltrane CD after seeing in it your other shot; let's hope it's good.

thanks. its probably not clear from the pics but the tuner is the awesome nat01 - ive had mine for years and i had it serviced last year. the power supply is two spaces down from the linn lp12 on the other rack, next to the armaggedon

You sure those Totems aren't too much of a good thing with the Naim kit? I've always found the Mani's and other top Totems a bit on the aggressive side.

That's a lovely set-up! Your room has that rare balance of being very neat but very inviting as well. With your wood floors, you might want to try corian shelves to replace your glass in the Fraim?

Some folks over on this side of the pond have had good luck with it - the trick is to find pieces as close in size to the original glass as possible. Worth a try maybe when the mood strikes for such endeavors? I'd be curious to hear what you think of it and the effect under your LP12, etc. :-)

I'm glad you've had a chance to set up the SBL's on a brick wall! I still have fond memories of hearing SBL's set up by Chris West on brick. Still the best I've heard them.

Thanks for the Kind words. I do look forward to weekday evenings getting home from work and just putting some music on.

On the Mani's and the "bit on the agressive side" query. I don't know what kit and under what circumstances you heard them but that ain't how they behave with reference kit at a all. Yes the Mani's in particular need a strong amp to drive them really well and I would say the 250mkII is necessary but with that proviso they are not at all agressive. I have upgraded my way from a 112/150 and the Mani's have been the one constant all the way. They really "do" strong deep bass so need carefull room placement. As you can see I have brick walls and that is so, all the way round, which gives me a good starting point to get a good result. The Mani's also have a pure mid band. It is in the treble that some people claim they can be tizzy sounding. Again not so at least on my kit with NACA5 ,never a problem. I aslso like the spaciousnes you get with standmount speakers and nice dynamics.

I've tried corian on my fraim and can honestly say it did'nt work for me. I believe Marc Newman has had good results with it. By the way, it is also pretty expensive, I got quotes of £100 for a bit the size of fraim glass. Fortunately my friends girlfriend is a kitchen designer and got me a bit for now't. Saved me from an expensive mistake. Another friend now uses it under a Levinson CD player with some other isolation devices I made for him. It seems to work in his system but gave an over emphasised sound in my set up. Ultimately balance was lost.
