Further to Geoff P's marvellous pics on This thread, a new year and a new thread to post pics of your pride and joy (all-Naim or at least part-Naim) awaits so that we can all get nit-picky about placement issues - to your ultimate sonic benefit!

Yes, Hutter it is, bought second-hand off another member of the Forum.
I'll say this for it - it's bloody easy to set up - once you get the base levelled everything just fits on top no messin'.
It's going to have to be upgraded to a Fraim though - if only because it'll make it easier to get to the cables at the back!

Nothing so 'professional' however, though I am flattered that you consider them so.
Perhaps I should explain...
Last night Hawk came round so we could try out his Isotek GII mains conditioner on my system. It just so happened that he had with him his rather swanky looking (so-called) digital SLR camera, a Canon E10D if memory serves, 6.2 megapixel jobby, pretty handy looking to my eyes anyway. I would venture to suggest that any 'professional' look to these pics is entirely down to this marvellous device and Hawk's expertise in its use!
So I asked him if he wouldn't mind taking a few pics of my boxes so I could post them on the Forum, and Hawk being the very nice bloke that he is was only too happy to oblige! Oh, and he even let me take a couple as well!
As for the walls, when I had my house decorated some months ago I had it done with a view to selling it on to a (future) first-time buyer so decided to try and make the colours as neutral as possible. So the walls have been painted in a very light beige and I have laminate flooring to match which also has quite a light maple finish.
Added to which my living-room area has eight 50w 'downlighters' and I had them all switched on last night during our little 'photo-session', which probably explains the undue brightness that you see!

Funny you should ask; I was listening to the Planar 3 this morning. It was playing the fourth LP of the Pink Floyd Echoes boxed set when, about an hour ago now, I suddenly heard it 'kick in'! I'm currently playing 'Avalon Sunset' by Van Morrison on it and it sounds wonderful!
How would I compare it to the CDX2? Tricky one, that. I think the Rega sounds a little more 'natural' in the way it presents the music - it's like all the instruments have their 'place', everything sounds 'in context' with everything else, if you see what I mean.
As for the CDX2, well, it just rooocks!! In fact, I think the highest compliment that I think could be paid to it was something that Hawk said last night (and I think he might deny all knowledge that he ever said this!) which in effect was that in his opinion, an XPS2 wouldn't make that much difference!

I'll stand by that, we talk alot on this forum about 'you wont hear the CDX2 at its best until you add an XPS2' but hearing Jon's bare CDX2 reminded me what a great player it is in its own right... IMO whilst the XPS2 adds a great deal it can also in the process soften the presentation of the CDX2 a little... Jon's system sounds every bit as good as it looks, and it really rocks through those spendors!

Stefan, Jon's been a little kind! all we did was just play with exposure and flash a little to create the effect... as Jon mentioned he has light walls and flooring so it was quite easy to pull off...
