System Pics 2005
Posted by: Steve Toy on 05 November 2004
Further to Geoff P's marvellous pics on This thread, a new year and a new thread to post pics of your pride and joy (all-Naim or at least part-Naim) awaits so that we can all get nit-picky about placement issues - to your ultimate sonic benefit!
Regards,
Steve.

There's still one thing missing: a NAT01. Come on Naim, release a new reference tuner so that the secondhand market can be flooded with used NAT01s.quote:Originally posted by dave simpson:quote:Originally posted by Nuno Baptista:
You just need a better rack,no?
That would be all he needs! Jack's got one helluva classic olive setup there.

I'd be tempted to move the 01 PST down beside the Linngo - and put the Stageline by the 01. But - I am only guessing.
Oh - you might also want to get the NAP 300 over to the "brains" and stick the cassette deck among the "brawn".

Adam
there is only one N in Lingo - like there's no F in CD555.

Lingo - fantastic product name. Who takes the credit for it?
Nice system Trevor - my thoughts before Adam's response was 'shift that Yamaha'. Naim casework and Fraim employ mainly non-ferrous metals for good reasons.
I helped a friend re-build his Naim system on Fraim. An unpowered NAD tuner with a steel case on the shelf under his pre-amp had an audibly deleterious effect on the sound.
And; annoyingly enough - an LP12 seems to do the same. Try moving it off the Fraim, and see what happens to your CD sound.
John.

Many thanks for comments.
I'll give it a go at the weekend.
Any suggestions as to LP12 or CDS3 above the 252.

Colin,
What a lovely room and set up. Do you still have your place in Scotland. Maybe I should come along for a visit. I may be going to Singapore at some point soon.
I see you have a nice sense of space between you and the speakers, I am sure if sounds spiffing. What's that under the CDS3?
regards
Dev

Colin has the nicest arrangement of components in his apartment. And even better than most dealers over here. Although he's only using a single Naim gear, the CDS3 rewrote the entire chapter in my books on how a digital source should sound like.
Such engaging listen for the afternoon. Will never forget the PRAT from that CDS3 source.
Well done mate.

Probably the Feet of Silence from the Solid Tech.
Posted on: 13 March 2005 by Colin Lorenson
Dev / Kuma,
Yep it's the Feet of Silence. A stupid name for a very good isolation tool.
Dev, following a domestic re-arrangement my (ex)wife has the place in Scotland just down the road from Robert. I've been in KL for about 2 years and you'd be more than welcome to come and stay anytime.
Cheers

It did work! Here's a close up of my sexy black boxes. Who can guess what they are?
Looks like
CDS3,252,sc2,250.2 ?
Mike
Excellent guess, and dead on. I will soon bring in 300 for a test. Although it would fill out that extra shelf nicely, my wallet is hoping that I don't believe the 300 is worth the price difference over the 250.2.

Chris
