Hi Lee,
I am interested on how well you think the xerxes works on fraim.
I currently use mana (5tier) and am reasonably happy, but wonder if fraim could improve on a rather forward presentation, while preserving resolution (timing and pitch).
I have just ordered fraim for my naim equipment which sits on a seperate mana rack.

The XL calculation for your room dimensions says the following:
Down the 5.1m length the room modes are at 1st = 34Hz, 2nd = 67Hz, 3rd = 135hz and so on
Across the 3.9m width the room modes are at 1st = 44Hz, 2nd = 88Hz, 3rd = 176hz and so on
Typically above about 200Hz furnishings and curtains help to absorb the modes and the 1st order is the loudest.
It recommends trying the speakers at the following "starting" postions:
Firing across the width the center of the speaker front baffles should be 57cms OUT from the long wall and 75cms in from the side walls
Firing down the length the center of the speaker front baffles should be 75cms OUT from the short wall and 57cms in from the side walls

These positions assume you are sitting close to the opposite wall (about 45 cms out) and the speakers are "toed in" a few degrees
The idea is to move the speakers around these starting positions by small amounts to see if the sound gets better.

It may be worth trying.

Lee, I know exactly how you feel. I borrowed a Shun Mook knockoff made by Cadence Audio (India). I wrote about it here.Still can't make up my mind about it, although it's only €200. I managed to use it with the centre spindle off in an attempt not to offend Touraj!

If you can't make up your mind, then it's a sideways move at best.If it only works with some music and not on others, it's just imparting a flavor,and not a genuine improvement.

Just waiting on my cds3 to get built as naim apparently have been let down by one of their suppliers. Have to wait till next month I think. Anyway, did some system maintenance and managed to grab a shot of my home made fraim.

Nice pictures of your nice system Silkee!
It seems strange to have the 202 on the bottom shelf, although if I do remember well, you tried different set up on your 2 Fraim racks and you said you had the best result this way.
Visually it would look better with your XPS or the 200 on the top shelf instead of the HC.

Sorry about the late reply.

It is a Queenie Rack made in Singapore; not sure if they are exported. I picked it up while I lived there.

It is not particularly audiophile but does the trick, speacially the double has stack of room. It cost about ukp100.

It has a low and a high shelf so you could put the high shellf on top by inversting the pillars. The senta sounds better on the rack than on top of the TV.

I have the same problem in my room but have no real other option, which is a real pain. It's very distracting looking at your TV and associated bits. I may post photos at some point.

The 300 & Fraim added

Nice one Kuma! Great house--judging by these and other photos you've posted, I'd enjoy a photographic tour of your entire abode.

Just curious...did you gain no sonic advantage using a Wiremold strip?

Wow kuma great pics. CDS3/552/300 on two stacks of Fraim must sound absolutely amazing. Three questions:-

1) What order are the units on the right-hand rack (from top to bottom)?

2) What speakers are you using? Sorry if you've mentioned them before...my memory's lousy!

3) What improvements have you heard from the 300 over the 200?

Its not. I dont know whats its called. It is a piece of accessory where you put by the side of the sofa. It has pockets which allows you to put your remote controls. Bought it from Ikea.

U remembered well. I thought this config was better for me. The space beside the Hicap2 is meant for my ipod mini if i do finally get it.

Like what Richard mentioned, I dont really have a choice. I need a TV in the living room. One option is of course to get a flat panel TV and mount it onto the wall. I am very tempted to move the TV away and hear if there is any difference (which i suspect so), but it is quite a lot of work. The TV aint light.
