I'm having some problems with my room acoustics, for several years.
It seems like every (reflex ported) speakers suffers from boomy, slow, uncontrolled bass

Last week I removed the laminate floor I had for about 4 years.
The overall sound got better, but the uncontrolled bass stayed.
The only speakers that does have thight bass in my room is the ugly, 70's look Rogers Studio 3, that I bought s/h for only 300,- euro, a pair.
(the outdated, cheap looks are a hard pill to swallow though )

Arse - you're right; mine MUST be the 706 then - or IS it a 746 - how do you tell? Certainly, this one doesn't have a BABT approved sticker, so it's 70s or older! I can dial using Eurobell cable as the operator, but since most switchboards are tone dial, and there's no "#" or "*"...

Actually, I bought it SPECIFICALLY to use in conjunction with our cordless DECT (Philips) phones, as their ringtones are crap and too quiet. You can hear THIS baby ring the other end of the street! Oh - and yeah, it does sound much clearer than the 00's technology DECT as well!

Damian - love the look of your rig - very cool! Cheap turntables aren't always awful - I have an Aiwa midi-sized one in the kitchen (my parents' old one) and it sounds pretty good. On a proper stand it would sound a LOT better. My first seperates turntable was a cheapo Goodmans one from Richers which was listenable - although end of side on worn records was nasty!

It's a shame that NAIM moved away from the aesthetics of the Olive look, that is a seriously nice looking set-up.

The glass replaces the standard Audiophile BASE shelves. It is 10mm tempered safety glass cut to size at my local glazier. You might find it interesting to note that there is actually two sheets of glass under the CDS2 - one is 6mm and one is 10mm. This is done to prevent them 'ringing'.

LOL! Yes I know, it looks a state! It was in a white ceramic pot that came to a nasty end when I opened the door on a windy day.

Your kit looks amazing... I even showed your pic to my wife who comented on how gorgeous - yes gorgeous those speakers look!!

She has even said why don't I go listen to them - but shortly followed, ahh but how much are they.

Some people are waiting to fill their empty Fraim levels - some others enjoy the "stuffing", but are waiting for the shelves. O dear...

Ultimately, the 300 will move to the lowest level under pre and CDP, and 300PS will go to the brawn stack, of course.
