Agreed. That looks unmistakably like a maple finish and very beautifully finished too!

kuma - no, I haven't tried that yet. I haven't had much time recently to listen (bloody work !), so the speakers are not yet run in. I'll perhaps give it a go when they have stabilised in a few weeks. My dealer and the manual recommend using them this way round so I'm pretty confident it will prove to be the better way - his track record of being right is pretty high!

And yep by a miracle of luck the Corras match the maple finish of the speakers very well indeed. Smile

And Ritta thinks it looks (and sounds) great. Cool

And I have room on the right rack for a hicap... Big Grin

Hi Jon,

Good question about the brawn on the LHS. I have thought much about this and do believe that moving those transformers to the RHS would help.

The problem is that the speakers would almost be firing straight into the brain components and that they probably benefit more from acoustic isolation.

Also, having the hands on components in the middle of the wall seems to make them easier to get to.

Sorry for the diversion but..

Hawk, how do you get on with the 17D2 and the short cantilever? Does it pick up a degree more dust?

I am considering changing my worn out Arkiv for one in LP12 / Ittok, no dust cover.

Its early days David, but so far no issues. I tend to make sure the vinyl is pretty clean and the cartridge has been faultless. It comes with a small stylus brush which ive only had to use a couple of times..

Looking good Ian!

Ive tried mine with the tweeters facing out and found them slightly worse, not sure if it was a psycological thing though as they looked odd that way round!

First, i wanted to know how many of you had Nait 2, and i have found a few...

John Luckins have in my opinion the best looking Nait 2 set-up:




Paul Downs have Epos ES-14, this is the speakers i've listen to when i took the decision to buy the Nait 2!


I also tried to find how many of you guys had B&W speakers with your Naim gears, i have found one, adamk have superb 800 series:

Yup, i didn't owned but listened to Nait 3 and Nait 5 couple of times, especially the Nait 3. They worth the extra money for sure, they sound bigger and are able to handle more bass at a higher volume, especially the Nait 5. The Nait 5 remembers me the sound of a NAC 62 and NAP 140 without Hicap. The pair of speakers always used are SBL in single Naca5 wirered config at my local Naim dealer.

However, i never listened to the Nait 5i seriously, only at Hi-Fi shows while passing by (It was always shown into a HT config). But don't worry, when my Nait 2 will pass out, i'm pretty sure to buy Naim gears again, and it will be probably the current Nait flavor at this time (or maybe i'll get my Nait 2 serviced and recapped for running it an extra 20 years! Big Grin ).

The Nait 5i will be a lot different from the Nait 2 for sure.

No, but I spoke with a guy on Audiogon who builds custom LP12 plinths out of tiger maple, oak, walnut, purpleheart etc...
