System Pics 2005
Posted by: Steve Toy on 05 November 2004
Further to Geoff P's marvellous pics on This thread, a new year and a new thread to post pics of your pride and joy (all-Naim or at least part-Naim) awaits so that we can all get nit-picky about placement issues - to your ultimate sonic benefit!
Regards,
Steve.

Nuno
I think you need either a much better camera, learn to stop shaking while you take pics or move out of the earthquake zone you seem to have found yourself living in!
Come on, rise to the challenge and take a decent pic to replace this effort!

I dread to think what happens when he tries to play a record

Well,as soon as possible I will take a photo with a decent camera!

We could have a competition to guess kit from bad photographs! Of course given we can look at nuno's profile it's not too much of challenge in this case

I hope Naim stick with green! Red is awful, I could live (just about) with the yellow or blue!

I'm perfectly happy with the 'Kermit the frog' green, too.
Can you imagine a Naim box in silver with blue lights? *gag*

This works!

I wonder if Naim would sell more if their components were available in a choice of colours?
Silver with blue lights? Reminds me of a certain other UK brand....

Hi Kuma.
Just curious: how does that Krell cdp sound?
Is the ridiculous sky-high price justified?

Rega Crimson (or reddy-mauve??) is nice - the Mk1 Planet in particular's got a nice coloured display and power button
I love the Naim Apollo command module CD displays though - very retro. And for a blind git like me, I can almost read the track number across the room - which is nigh on impossible usually.
On Nuno's case - come on, even my shoddy Fuji camera can do better than that (not much better, admittedly, but...)

Compared to which player, DF?
It's good after Mana'd. It sounds less broken in this system. Now I can listen to a CD without missing much.

Depending on what you value in terms of good playback.
Is the CDS3 worth 14K?
Or would the upcoming CD555 ( or whatever ) be worth an estimated 30K+ price tag?
I like both players and they have strengths and weaknesses.
I look for fun and confidence from my source. The rest of audiophile trimmings are inconsequential to me.
All costly digital brings more resolution and finesse but majority of them miss the energy I look for. Both kps25s and CDS3 offer what I value albeit in different manners.
My baby LP12 still does certain things better than either players, however.
No doubt that good ( or at least the ones I like ) digital is not cheap. And the VFM is low compared to most analogue source.

BLUEKNOWZ, now we know that you are a real man --> you have a drill!
Next suggested purchase --> CD/DVD shelves
This is always a pleasure to see a LP12 in action.
Bye.

Stoik,Finding suitable CD/DVD shelving in the U.K.is next to impossible, most of what is available looks cheap & nasty Mrs BLUENOWZ words ,I have decided to make my own!
