Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2001

Something for your diaries:

Bristol Hi-Fi Show
23rd - 25th February 2001 at the Marriott Hotel in Bristol.

http://www.bristolshow.co.uk/

There's a list of many exhibitors, including Naim. According to the literature, Naim will be demonstrating the DBLs with 3 (yes 3!) NAP-500s. So I guess that means they're active.

Hmmmm I wonder if we'll get to see/hear the Tannoy Churchills?

I was impressed with the variety of restaurants/cafes when down there this year... I'll be up for 2001.

Let's hope they give the M*#~ boys a bigger room, too.

Rico,

Glad you enjoyed my home city. I will post a list of cafes, restaurants & pubs nearer to the date.

Well, the Churchill's are sold in the USA only, so its unlikely they'll be at Bristol.

Anyway, what's the chance of having a forum member's dem. I'm sure the smell of our credit cards going into simultaneous meltdown while listening to the active DBLs will be something to behold. Come on Dougie, you know you want to do this!

C'est la vie.

By the way, I refuse to buy a £35k pre-amp. Unless Naim convince me otherwise.... again....

...through 3 x 500's & DBL's, that has just got to be a trouser tightening experience!

72/250 owners get berated for owning a "mullet" system, but I bet nobody complains about Naim using three NAP500's.

It is easy to express the mullet factor of a system as a percentage. Simply divide the preamp cost by the power amp cost, multiply it by 100, then subtract the result from 100 to give the Mullet Quotient.

My system (assuming 32.5 to be same cost as 72) has a Mullet Quotient of 56.6 (preamp / PSU 1600 quid, power amps 3600).

Joel's system has a Mullet Quotient of 82.7, though I have left his crossover out as it is neither a preamp or a power amp (preamp / PSU 5.5k, power amps 30k).

I will happily exchange systems to save Joel from the serious humiliation of owning the ultimate mullet system.

Tony.

Oh wow! Behold, Joel the Mullet King! Hmm, does that have the right ring to it?

Quick Mark, Paul, and Naim R&D - get to work on that new £35000 preamp to save Joel from the embarassment of this dreaded mantle! Can we have it by thursday please, and can it be available dicount-direct, too?

'ere - very nice of Tony to volunteer for a further be-mulleting experience.
