beds

Uninspiring topic, I know, but we all use them so lets get it over with.

I've just followed some links on the sleep councils website only to be led to awful chintzy beds costing a fortune. I'm happy to pay whatever it takes for a good nights sleep but was hoping for something with a more modern appearance. Any recomendations? Has anyone tried "Dunlopillo" latex foam mattresses?

I too use Relyon.....1200 pocketed spring..not cheap, but IMO pocketed spring mattresses cannot be beaten. My mattress cost about £700...the bed is a (home made) pine jobie

Dunlopillow are excellent matresses for the price. Quite firm, hypo-allergenic, and last for ages. They are one sided, and one ended, so can't be turned.
I bought them for both my daughters' first beds. The girls are about ready to leave home now, and the matresses are as good as new. They need a well ventilated base, such as simple wooden slats.

We've got a Millbrook something or other (a generous wedding present). I wouldn't get a divan again. Dead comfy and all, but they look grim, IMO. We ended up junking ours, and putting the mattress in a Habitat frame. Slightly less plush for sure, but still the most comfy bed I have slept in. Hacking up the divan to get it in the back of a mate's car was an eye-opener. The money was definitely spent where you can see it as far as the base goes. If it had been my money, I would have felt short changed, as the quality of workmanship and materials on the frame couldn't have been much lower.

Tempurpedic. Pricey but worth every penny!

The most comfortable thing I've ever slept on.

Best,

We bought a Sealy Posturepedic in the US about 17 years ago and it's still in virtually perfect nick despite having been "well used". It's firm, even, and by far the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Thoroughly recommended.

I have Staples pocket sprung and Regency (sub-brand of Silentnight, I think) pocket sprung, on slatted bases.

Brilliant, very comfortable, medium price range (bought some years ago so not sure what they'd be today).

I'm not generally a good sleeper yet these have helped a lot.

Find a decent bed shop with a salesman who's happy to let you lie about on lots of different types, find the one you like then pay the money - it's worth it!

Happy snoozing,

Richard.

I guess that all that time spent reading up on arm- cartridge matching wasn`t wasted after all !
