Cheap Mountain Bikes

Posted by: long-time-dead on 14 August 2004

Sorry Guys and Gals - another MB topic.....

Having recently bought a Trek 2300 road bike and discovered the joys of "serious" road cycling again, my wife is now interested in cycling but would really prefer to do same in parks, country tracks etc. I obviously need a new bike too ( Big Grin) as I don't want to ruin the 2300 !

No trick airborne requirements needed. Main considerations are value-for-money and reasonably good.

Any ideas ?

Deals on 04 stock are only going to get better as 05 bikes hit the shop. However, if you can't wait, of the 350quid bikes a kiddie I know is looking at, the GT Avalanche 1.0 at Evans (50quid off) looked to have the best specced componentry

If you have the time, lurking on the STW forum will give you the skinny on the best deals.

£300 buys a Specialized Hardrock, decent frame by all accounts, components probably match the price but when I was looking, for that sort of use pretty much anything that's obviously not a dog should do the job.

regards,
Paul

Well, the deal is done and the bike purchased.

I've dug out an old bike for myself and will clean it up and give it a service but in the meantime but we bought a Specialized Hardrock (woman specific) for Mrs. LTD and a rather nice bike is it too. It's probably as much as she needs for now and if a better bike is needed then the kids will inherit this one...

Better still - only £250 (£50 off list) at our local store. Smile

Guess who will get to clean it Frown

I found cleaning it in the living room seems to encourage Mrs Hawk to clean before i get the chance!!!

If I thought about cleaning anything in our living room - I would need a WSD bike as Mrs. LTD would cut off my danglies !
