Meeting the wife in London on Friday, got a few hours before then on my own - any recommended shops for quality used and new vinyl?
All ears..

If you like jazz, check out Ray's on the first floor of Foyles bookshop on Charing Cross Rd, and Mole Jazz, upstairs at Harold Moores (classical secondhand) on Gt Marlborough St. Then there's a couple of Reckless Records shops and Selectadisc in Berwick St for a wide range of stuff. There's quite a few more record shops on Berwick St too.

I second Ian on Berwick & nearby, like Sounds of the Universe(home of Soul Jazz),
Oxford Street = HMV, Virgin both with some vinyl, Hanway Street for 2nd hand
Covent Garden = Fopp. Moore's, Rough Trade, EukaTech etc.
Notting Hill = Rough Trade, Roy's, Intoxica, Record & Tape Exchange x 4
Camden = RTE, Reckless, several dance shop
Which area & genre will you be in?

Geoff,
Try to get to Sounds of the Universe in Broadwick St, off Berwick Street, lots of Soul records and more modern stuff to.
Selectadisc is good for back catalogue rock, and alt- & space-, kraut- post-rock.
Reckless has a reasonable / varied selection , check downstairs as well.
I often spend 3-4 hours down that area, always fruitful.
