Battlestar Galactica

I hope you are all watching this on SKY 1 (if you can). Forget the original; this is like the Sopranos meets Sci-Fi. Amazing and uncomprimising with fine acting and production values.

TV Sci-Fi comes of age. Again.

Now if the new Dr Who can be to the old what this is to the '80s dayglow version......

When they announced that the cylons were no longer robots and worse still, Starbuck is now a woman I decided not to bother. The original recipe was fine if cheesy - all they had to do was update things not mess up the baddies and put one of the major character through a sex change. I shudder to think of what would be done to Buck Rogers if they got their hands on that series.

But Yeldarb, it's so much better.

I have to admit I thought the original was pretty poor; I even preferred Buck Rodgers - at least he had a sexy nemesis.

Whatever you think of the new one, you can't fault the acting or effects - I like the plot too - it's very comtemporary.

Maybe they should have called it something else? People have these nostalgic attachments to old crap Winker. I have a feeling thet the new Dr Who may share the same (garyi'll'y cynical) fate.

Stephen

PS You still get the Cylon robots - except they are much better and much more scary.

A diversion.

You can already see the dead hand of the TV Network Suit. Cruise liner captured by cylons. Cruise liner reappears with a couple of nukes on board heading towards the fleet. Our brave fighter pilots look through the portholes and see _nobody there_. They blow up the ship up and feel really bad about it. You can bet the original scene had frantic passengers waving through the windows. Sanitised made-for-TV crap. I'll probaly still watch it though Winker.

Utter garbage compared to the original.
No Patrick McNee - no chance.

Confused - I guess it'll make bath time a bit more interesting, and I wont get those looks when I go dress shopping. Does anyone know how this will affect my passport?
