2ND HAND CAR PROBLEM

Posted by: Fisbey on 21 December 2004

Well my trusty 214 finally 'expired' last week and was beyond (practical) repair, so I've bought an N reg Toyota Corrola which seems Ok so far except for one thing - there is an intermittent 'knocking' noise coming from the back of the car. I had the car up on a ramp and was told the exhaust and shocks were OK, there is nothing loose in the boot and the wheels aren't loose! it sounds kind of a 'big' noise but it may turn out to be something under the back seat. My concern is it may be something on the way out (bit of paranoia), but the car 'feels' OK and the handling seems alright.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

We had something similar on our previous V40 - the knocking turned out to be an nothing more than an expired rubber bushing on the subframe. Get someone who knows their Toyotas to have a look.

My first thought too, can be fairly cheap to replace

Blimey spot on chaps - very worn bushes on the rear roll bar - replaced - much better now!

Thanks very much Smile
